| Operation |
While charging the water pipe line, the air is released through big orifice.
As soon as the water is filled in the pipe line the steel balls get lifted due to buoyancy and both the orifices are closed without any leakage of water.
This ensures the prevention of air valve lock in the pipe line.
Under pressure the dissolved air forms big air pockets due to change in hydraulic gradient, area, temperature etc.. These air pockets accumulate at top of automatic air release valve and depress the water level down. As water level goes down the small steel ball with oval shape and rolling seal mechanism fall down and release the air without any leakage of water. As soon as the air pocket is get reduced water level comes up and small orifice is closed.
This eliminates the pressure drop due to air pockets in the pipe line.
While emptying the pipe line, pressure inside go below atmospheric pressure. As soon as the vacuum is begin to develop, the big ball falls down to the bucket and the air is get breathed in.
This prevent pipe from collapsing.
